We manufacture a variety of coating chemicals in India such as stabilisers, curing agents, dispersing agents as well as solvents to help improve the overall performance of virtually every kind of coating product in the ink and coating industry
CRISTOL™ surface-active agents (surfactants) provide properties that are necessary to wet, disperse and suspend pigments in coating formulations effectively rendering a superior performance edge. Specific agents include:
CRISTOL™ range of speciality surfactants were developed specifically to incorporate versatility and ease of use. A representative selection of CRISTOL™ surfactants is described on the following pages. More data can be found in CRISTOL™ product bulletins, product specification sheets and material safety data sheet
KAPL effectively provides your paints and coatings with superior performance edge
Surfactant for Emulsion Polymerisation
Krishna Antioxidant Private Limited (KAPL) offers a range of non-ionic and anionic CRISTOL™ surfactants for emulsion polymerisation industry. The emulsion polymer system uses a variety of surface-active agents to disperse reactive monomer in water and to stabilise the resulting polymer latex. Anionic surfactants are blended with non-ionic surfactants to improve latex stability
Every emulsion polymer has its own proprietary formulation and in-depth knowledge of the applications for a particular latex. The physical data and properties of CRISTOL™ surfactants for emulsion polymerisation may enable the polymer producer to make an effective selection of surfactants
Dispersants
CRISTOMER DISPERSANTS offered by KAPL should not be confused with the more familiar wetting agents or surfactants and they are quite different. Unlike surfactants
CRISTOMER DISPERSANTS will not emulsify liquids. Another more relevant difference arises due to the design of CRISTOMER DISPERSANTS, as they are of much higher molecular weight. Unlike classical surfactants, they are more inert and have no adverse effects on durability. Indeed, in many applications, such as automotive finishes, durability has been enhanced when
CRISTOMER DISPERSANTS have been used. Coatings made from these dispersants will exhibit better viscosity stability, particularly on storage, excellent gloss and flocculation, resistance and less colour change on exposure to weathering.
It is therefore important to optimise the dispersion process and to use CRISTOMER DISPERSANTS efficiently in order to ensure that high quality formulations are produced.
Wetting, Flow & Levelling Agents
Wetting the pigment particles is essential for them to be finely distributed in liquid. Air entrapped in the
pigment powder must be
fully removed and the pigment particle completely surrounded by the liquid medium.
Wetting agents are important to impart excellent wetability to the pigments enhancing their dispersion in
the emulsion based paints
and the overall stability of the paint.
These additives are useful in preventing the accumulation of concentration of pigments at the surface of the
paint (floating) or in
stains and patches inside the coating film (flooding). This defect leads to a change in color.
